As a former kindergarten teacher, I believe I have a unique perspective on what skills and curriculum that would be most helpful to your child. My preschool curriculum is set up around a thematic unit. Most themes will be science or social studies related, such as weather, community, or the five senses. In addition, we will also focus on a letter each week. Math and other language arts concepts (such as counting, rhyme, and numbers) will be included, as well as fine arts, social and emotional skills, large and small motor skills, and self-help skills. There is a lot to learn, but I promise, it will be a fun and rewarding experience for your child!
When planning curriculum, I follow the Utah State Office of Education Pre-Kindergarten Guidelines and keep in contact with our local school district to make sure your child is prepared for kindergarten.
